What Africa owes China

At the recent triennial China-Africa Forum, China announced that it would provide African countries with US$ 60 billion in additional loans and grants over the next three years. This precipitated a strong reaction from the USA and other powerful countries concerned that they would be left behind in the development of this prospective continent. If Africa is “attractive” to the world’s investment community, it is to a great extent because of China which remained actively involved when all others turned their backs on the continent some thirty years ago. Now it is up to the African leaders to show gratitude, but especially to make the most of this fortuitous situation. Click here to download the article
